Riana的曼谷行
A few weeks ago I went excitedly to Bangkok, Thailand, for the first time. As I got on the plane I didn't really know what to expect; I would be in Bangkok for only four days, but I thought it would probably include elephants, trips to sight-seeing places and lots of cheap shopping…
In Bangkok it was bright and sunny, and I felt pleasantly relaxed as I felt the warm rays soak into my skin - this was a good start to my holiday!
I rode in a three wheeled taxi called a tuk tuk to Khaosan road, a popular street for tourists and locals alike. When I arrived there, lots of people seemed to be celebrating and playing with water.
I walked into the throng of people towards some restaurants to eat lunch, but before I could even take a few steps someone had sprayed me with water and shouted “Happy New Year!”.
Next, a young Thai girl wiped plaster onto my cheeks and smiled as she continued walking.
I didn't know what was going on until another traveller explained to me that the Thai New Year was happening, and that celebrations included water games and getting lucky plaster on your face.
I thought it looked like a lot of fun because all the young people and travellers had water guns and buckets of icy water ready to splash on each other and anyone passing by!
However, after four days with wet clothes and plaster covering my face, I was happy to come back home… to Taiwan!
