每週一,我們將會介紹一些實用的單字、片語,

藉由簡短的對話內容,讓你輕鬆學英語!

Going to the Movies!

In the movie theatre, we quickly find our seats and get settled in. The movie hasn't started yet so we are chatting and laughing about the last movies we saw.

Stephanie: I've heard that this movie is as good as the first and second, but I dunno. Not many sequels are as good as the original!

May: Don't you think Johnny Depp really fits the role as Captain Jack Sparrow? He's hilarious… and he acts exactly as I would think a pirate would be like! Well, just like a crazy but mostly harmless pirate anyway.

Riana: Yeah, I can't wait to see what Johnny Depp is like now! In the preview he says “Did no one come back just because they missed me?” and only the monkey raises its hand! Oh poor Jack… He makes me laugh! He must have rocks in his head to say such a thing.

May: Sh-h, the movie is starting!

Stephanie: So far so good…but I'm having second thoughts about that coke you got me. Its cold in this theatre and the coke makes me feel even colder!

  • Get settled in: get comfortable, become accustomed to

Eg: Julia settled into her new classes at university quite quickly.

  • To have rocks in someone's head: to be a little bit silly/crazy/stupid

Eg: He must have rocks in his head if he thinks I’ll go on a date with him!

  • So far so good: everything is good up to this point

Eg: So far so good, but if the price of our stocks fall then we’ll have some troubles!

  • Having second thoughts: to have doubts about something
Eg: I hope you’re not having second thoughts about marrying her.
