Going to the Movies!
The movie is over now, and we stretch our arms a little and laugh about our favourite scenes in the movie. We then grab our rubbish and throw it in the bin as we leave.
Stephanie: Well, talk about full-on action! I’ve changed my mind about sequels - that was even better than the first few pirate movies!
Riana: Definitely. What did you think of the pirate’s song at the beginning? The little boy was so forlorn, my hair curled! I just can’t get that part out of my head…
Stephanie: I liked that part where Johnny Depp has multiple personalities, it really showed his character in a different light. Like where he fought with himself over a peanut! What the?!
May: I reckon… that was so funny. Seeing just his nose – sniff, sniff, sniffing for such a little peanut!
… (We all collapse laughing)
Full-on: extreme, complete
Eg: Well it’s not that I don’t like her, I just think that she’s pretty full-on about her work.
To change your mind: start thinking differently about something
Eg: We tried to change his mind about coming to the conference with us, but he still won’t come.
To curl someone’s hair: to shock or frighten someone
Eg: Some of the scenes in that horror movie are enough to curl your hair!
Can’t get something out of your head: to be thinking about something all the time
Eg: I just can’t get that final exam out of my head, I keep wondering if I passed or not!
In a different light: another way of looking or considering a matter
Eg: After seeing him donate money to the charity, I saw John in a different light.
