One of my favourite hobbies in Australia was cooking with my friends. We had a special way of deciding what to cook though. Usually we picked a country, such as Mexico , India or Japan . Then we would find music and recipes from that country on the internet. After comparing what we’d found, we would choose the best looking ones.

We often cooked on a Friday night after our university classes. We’d go home together and start playing music. Each of us had bought some of the ingredients to make the meal. For example, one of my best friends from my Japanese class wanted to cook asparagus pie one day. She asked if I'd like to come and cook with her because we always cooked funny things together.

So we went to her house one afternoon after classes, and started preparing to make the asparagus pie. It was funny, because we would make stupid faces to each other and have 'sword fights' with the asparagus!

First we lined a baking dish with some pastry before covering it with Chèvre Cheese. Chèvre cheese is made from goat's milk, and it was really difficult to find! We had to go to a special supermarket just to buy it...

Then we arranged the asparagus on top of the Chèvre cheese in a pretty pattern. It was a miracle that enough asparagus survived our sword fights and other abuse! Finally we poured a mixture over the top of the pie, and it was ready for the oven.

However, we also had some pastry left over from the pie, so Adri and I decided to make a little dessert out of strawberries and souffle.

But eventually, we put our delicious creations into the oven to bake. It was so nice in the kitchen while our food was cooking, because they smelt so good!

We couldn't wait to eat it for dinner... and that's why we don't have any photos of us eating the asparagus pie or the strawberry souffle - we were too busy eating with Adri's family!

Do you think it sounds delicious? Maybe you can try making the asparagus pie - you can just search for the recipe on the internet. I also saw Chèvre cheese in some of the supermarkets here, so I know that you can make it! If you can't find Chèvre, then another cheese like Gruyere is a suitable substitute.
